The written entrance exam of the degree programmes Business Administration, International Business Administration and Economics takes place at the same time and can be passed for all three degree programmes.
The written entrance exam consists of three parts. Thereby knowledge and competencies in three areas are examined:
- Part A: Basic economic knowledge and competencies:
- competencies in mathematics: the tasks in mathematics are based on the mathematics curricula of the Austrian general higher education schools (AHS) and vocational higher educations schools (BHS).
- language skills in English
- knowledge of the assigned test literature
- Part B: Text comprehension in German and English
- Part C: Cognitive skills
Ranking
Part A counts for 50 % of the overall score, part B and part C for 25 % each. The scored points are normalised and weighted so that the individual test parts are comparable and correspond to the specified weighting. The values of the test parts are added up to produce the overall score which determines the final position in the ranking.

The written entrance exam for the degree programmes Nutritional Sciences and Pharmacy takes place at the same time and can be passed for for both degree programmes. To do so, you have to submit an application for admission to the bachelor programme in Nutritional Sciences as well as an application for admission to the bachelor programme in Pharmacy within the application period. You only have to pay the administration fee once.

- Part A: Ability to acquire the knowledge expected of students starting this degree programme by using the learning materials provided.
- Part B: Ability to think methodically, formally and analytically
- Part C: Ability to understand simple texts on the subject matter in English and German
Ranking
The entrance exam consists of three parts, the standardised, weighted scores of which are added up. The test parts are weighted in a ration of 2:1:1 (A:B:C). The results are ranked according to the sum of the weighted scores per part. The highest score corresponds to ranking position number 1, the lowest to ranking position number n (n = number of test participants). Participants ranking between position 1 and 485 receive a study place. To complete the admission procedure you also have to fulfil all requirements for admission to a bachelor programme at the University of Vienna.

The available study places are assigned as follows:
- 400 test participants with the highest overall scores who have registered with German as their A-language
- 262 test participants with the highest overall scores who have registered with a different language as their A-language
In the five years, before the introduction of entrance exam procedure, the ratio of admissions with German as A-language and admissions with other languages as A-language was, on average, 400 to 262.
After these, participants with descending overall scores follow alternately (according to the zipper merge method) on the ranking list:
- one test participant who registered with a language other than German as A-language,
- and one test participant who registered with German as A-language.
