The aim of the master's programme in Turkish Studies is to enable students to independently deal with historical and current social and cultural problems, developments and phenomena in the Ottoman Empire and Türkiye using primary sources. In addition to in-depth knowledge of the past and present, the cultures, societies, religions and politics of the Ottoman Empire and Türkiye, as well as the Turkic-speaking cultural area, the master’s degree in Turkology conveys knowledge of science, theory and methodology.

Study Programme
The master's programme consists of a group of compulsory modules on the history, culture and politics of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Türkiye, a compulsory module group language, literature, society, 30 ECTS to choose from groups of elective modules, and the compulsory module master's module.
To complete the programme, students have to write a master’s thesis and pass a master’s examination.
