English Language and Linguistics (Master)
The master’s programme in English Language and Linguistics aims at providing students with advanced knowledge of and research competences in English linguistics, in particular in one of the alternative specialisations Historical Linguistics, Functional and Cognitive Linguistics or Applied Linguistics. Therefore, the master’s programme strives to equip students with the necessary competences to develop and implement questions, concepts and methods for research projects, and adequately present them in English.
Since English is the language of instruction in this master’s programme, students learn to deal with complex issues in English.

The programme consists of the compulsory modules Foundations, Language, Electives, Specialisation (possible specialisations are Historical Linguistics, Functional and Cognitive Linguistics or Applied Linguistics), Extension and Research Support. To complete the programme, students have to write a master’s thesis and pass a master’s examination.
